Abe Martin (Illinois coach)

Abe Martin (1884-1960) was an American football coach and college athletics administrator. He served as the head football coach at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign from 1942 to 1946, compiling a record of 16–23–2. Prior to his tenure as head coach, Martin served as an assistant coach at Illinois under Robert Zuppke for over two decades, specializing in line play. After leaving the head coaching position, he remained involved with the university's athletic department.
