Big Boss (film)
Big Boss, also known as Fists of Fury in the United States, is a 1971 Hong Kong martial arts action film starring Bruce Lee in his first major role. Directed by Lo Wei, the film tells the story of Cheng Chao-an (Bruce Lee), a young martial artist who moves from mainland China to Thailand to work at an ice factory with his cousins. Cheng, having promised his mother to avoid fighting, initially tries to keep the peace. However, when his cousins begin disappearing and he discovers the factory is a front for a drug-smuggling operation run by the titular "Big Boss," Hsiao Mi, he is forced to break his vow and use his martial arts skills to protect himself and avenge his murdered relatives. The film is notable for showcasing Bruce Lee's signature Jeet Kune Do style and propelling him to international stardom. Big Boss was a major box office success in Hong Kong and helped to popularize Hong Kong martial arts films worldwide.
