Honda Yasushige (daimyo, born 1554)

Honda Yasushige (本多 康重, 1554 – 1611) was a Japanese daimyo of the late Sengoku and early Edo periods, who served the Tokugawa clan. He was the son of Honda Hirotaka, and belonged to the Honda clan's Mikawa branch.

Yasushige began his service under Tokugawa Ieyasu at a young age, distinguishing himself in various battles, including the Battle of Komaki-Nagakute in 1584. He was known for his bravery and tactical skills.

In 1590, following the Tokugawa clan's move to the Kantō region, Yasushige was granted the Otaki Domain (10,000 koku) in Kazusa Province. He subsequently rose in prominence, and was later transferred to the Obata Domain in Kōzuke Province, with an increased koku of 20,000.

Yasushige played a role in the Battle of Sekigahara in 1600, fighting on the Tokugawa side and contributing to their victory. As a reward for his service, he was granted the Zeze Domain in Ōmi Province, with an increased koku of 30,000. He served as the first daimyo of Zeze Domain.

He was known for his administrative skills and helped to develop the domain. Honda Yasushige died in 1611. His descendants continued to rule Zeze Domain until the Meiji Restoration.
