Hilberry Theatre

The Hilberry Theatre is the graduate repertory theatre company and performance venue of Wayne State University's Department of Theatre and Dance, located in Detroit, Michigan. Founded in 1964, it is the only graduate repertory company in the United States that operates on a year-round rotating schedule.

The Hilberry Theatre offers Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degrees in Acting, Directing, Design, and Theatre Management. Students accepted into the program receive full tuition scholarships and a stipend in exchange for their work within the company.

Performances at the Hilberry Theatre encompass a wide range of theatrical works, including classic dramas, contemporary plays, and musicals. The rotating repertory schedule allows actors to perform multiple roles in different productions simultaneously, providing them with extensive and varied performance experience.

The Hilberry Theatre has a long history of producing notable actors, directors, and designers who have gone on to successful careers in theatre, film, and television. It is considered a significant training ground for theatre professionals.

The building housing the Hilberry Theatre is located on the campus of Wayne State University and provides both performance and rehearsal space for the company. Its season typically runs from September to May.
