High Stakes (game show)

High Stakes is a short-lived American game show that aired on ABC from January 8, 2002, to February 5, 2002. The show was hosted by Dylan Bruno.

The premise of High Stakes involved contestants answering general knowledge trivia questions. Unlike traditional quiz shows, contestants began with a substantial amount of money, typically $200,000, which decreased with each incorrect answer. The objective was to retain as much of the initial stake as possible by answering correctly.

Each episode featured multiple contestants competing in a series of rounds. In each round, contestants were presented with a question and a limited amount of time to answer. The speed at which a contestant answered correctly affected how much money was deducted from their stake. Correct answers with quick responses resulted in minimal deductions, while slower, correct answers resulted in larger deductions. Incorrect answers resulted in a significant monetary penalty.

Contestants continued playing until they either ran out of money or chose to stop. The contestant with the most money remaining at the end of the episode won and could return for subsequent shows. High Stakes was cancelled after only one season due to low ratings.
