Tetín (Beroun District)

Tetín is a village and municipality in the Beroun District of the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It is situated approximately 4 kilometers southwest of Beroun, on a prominent hill overlooking the Berounka River.

History:

Tetín is notable for its rich history, dating back to the early Middle Ages. According to legend, it was founded by Teta, a daughter of Bohemian Duke Krok. Historically, Tetín was an important center of Christianity in Bohemia. Saint Ludmila, the grandmother of Saint Wenceslaus, was murdered in Tetín in 921. The village features several churches, reflecting its long religious significance. The first church in Tetín was founded in the 8th century.
