Herbert Jones (basketball)
Herbert Jones (born October 6, 1998) is an American professional basketball player who currently plays for the New Orleans Pelicans of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He plays primarily as a small forward but has also demonstrated versatility in playing multiple positions.
Jones played college basketball for the University of Alabama Crimson Tide. During his time at Alabama, he was known for his defensive prowess, earning SEC Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year honors in his junior season (2020-2021). He also won SEC Tournament MVP in 2021 after leading Alabama to the tournament championship.
Jones was selected by the New Orleans Pelicans with the 35th overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft. He quickly became a key contributor for the Pelicans, earning praise for his defensive capabilities and high basketball IQ. His defensive versatility allows him to guard multiple positions effectively.
