Harold Cagle (American football)

Harold "Tubby" Cagle (October 26, 1913 – December 11, 1942) was an American football player. He played halfback for the Army Black Knights from 1935 to 1937, earning All-American honors in both 1936 and 1937.

Cagle was a standout player known for his speed and versatility, contributing as a runner, passer, and kicker. He was a key figure in Army's success during the mid-1930s, helping lead the team to undefeated seasons in 1935 and 1936.

After graduating from West Point, Cagle was commissioned as an officer in the United States Army Air Forces. He died in a plane crash near Sacramento, California, while serving as a pilot during World War II. He was posthumously inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1954.
