Hall Island (Alaska)

Hall Island is an uninhabited island in the Bering Sea, part of the St. Matthew Island group in Alaska, United States. It lies approximately 320 kilometers (200 miles) west of Nunivak Island. It is situated northeast of St. Matthew Island and is separated from it by a narrow strait, Sarichef Strait.

The island is named after Captain Charles Francis Hall, an American Arctic explorer. It is approximately 13 kilometers (8 miles) long and 8 kilometers (5 miles) wide. The island's terrain is primarily mountainous, with steep cliffs along much of the coastline.

Hall Island is a part of the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge and provides habitat for a variety of seabirds, marine mammals, and other wildlife. Due to its remote location and protected status, human access is limited. The island's ecosystem is relatively undisturbed, making it a valuable site for scientific research and monitoring.
