HNoMS Mjølner (1868)

HNoMS Mjølner was a Norwegian monitor built in 1868. She was one of four Thor class monitors built for the Royal Norwegian Navy. Mjølner and her sister ships, Thor, Odin, and Balder, were designed for coastal defense. She was armed with two 26 cm rifled muzzle-loading guns in a single turret. Mjølner served in the Norwegian Navy for several decades, undergoing several refits and modernizations throughout her career. Details of her exact service history, including specific engagements or deployments, are limited in readily available sources. She was eventually decommissioned and scrapped. The Mjølner and her sister ships represented a significant component of Norway's naval power during the late 19th century, reflecting a commitment to maintaining a strong coastal defense capability.
