HMS Vigo (D31)
HMS Vigo (D31) was a Battle-class destroyer of the British Royal Navy. Constructed towards the end of the Second World War, she was laid down in 1944 but not completed until 1946. The Battle-class destroyers were designed for fleet support and anti-aircraft defense.
HMS Vigo's service life included participation in various exercises and deployments. She was subsequently converted to a radar picket in the early 1960s, modernizing her capabilities for air defense and surveillance. As a radar picket, Vigo played a crucial role in providing early warning of incoming aircraft and missiles to the fleet.
Ultimately, HMS Vigo was decommissioned and scrapped in the late 1960s. Her design, however, influenced later generations of Royal Navy destroyers.
