HMS P36 (1941)

HMS P36 was a British submarine of the "U" class, built by Vickers-Armstrongs at Barrow-in-Furness. Launched on 27 November 1941, she served in the Mediterranean Sea during World War II.

P36's wartime service was relatively brief. She conducted several patrols, primarily operating against Axis shipping and naval forces. Her career was cut short when she was sunk during an air raid on Malta on 1 April 1942. The submarine was undergoing repairs in dry dock at the time of the attack.

The wreck of HMS P36 remains in dry dock number 6 at Malta's Grand Harbour. It is a war grave and serves as a reminder of the intense fighting that took place in the Mediterranean during the war. The wreck is accessible to technical divers and is a popular diving site.
