HMS Camperdown (D32)
HMS Camperdown (D32) was a Battle-class destroyer of the British Royal Navy. She was named after Admiral Adam Duncan, 1st Viscount Duncan of Camperdown, who commanded the British fleet at the Battle of Camperdown in 1797.
Camperdown was one of eight Battle-class destroyers of the 1944 group. The Battle class were designed as fleet destroyers, intended for use in combat situations, rather than escort duties.
Camperdown was ordered on 16 August 1943, laid down on 10 November 1943 by John Brown & Company, Clydebank, launched on 22 November 1944, and commissioned on 18 July 1945.
Following commissioning, Camperdown saw service primarily in the Far East. She was placed in reserve in 1966 and subsequently sold for scrapping in 1970.
