HMS Britomart (1808)

HMS Britomart was an 18-gun Cherokee-class brig-sloop of the British Royal Navy, launched in 1808. She served during the Napoleonic Wars and the War of 1812.

Service History:

Britomart spent much of her early career operating in the Mediterranean, participating in various actions against French and other enemy shipping. She was involved in convoy escort duties and anti-piracy patrols.

During the War of 1812, Britomart was deployed to the North American station. She participated in actions against American privateers and coastal shipping.

Fate:

Britomart was wrecked on 24 November 1813 on the east coast of Newfoundland. All of her crew were saved.
