NGC 6834
NGC 6834 is an open cluster located in the constellation Cygnus. It was discovered by William Herschel on September 18, 1784. The cluster is situated relatively close to Earth, at a distance of approximately 7,000 light-years.
NGC 6834 is a relatively small and sparse open cluster, containing a few dozen member stars. Its age is estimated to be around 40 to 80 million years. The brightest stars in the cluster are of spectral type B. The cluster is embedded within a region of interstellar dust and gas, which contributes to its appearance.
Astronomers study NGC 6834 to understand the formation and evolution of open clusters, as well as the properties of stars in different stages of their life cycles. Observations of the cluster help to refine our understanding of stellar distances, ages, and chemical compositions. It's visible with binoculars or a small telescope under dark skies.
