Acoacán

Acoacán is a term of Nahuatl origin, referring to a type of necklace or collar. Specifically, it describes a wide, elaborate neck adornment, often made of precious materials such as gold, jade, turquoise, or feathers. These necklaces were typically worn by members of the Aztec elite, including rulers, priests, and warriors, as symbols of status, power, and religious affiliation. The designs incorporated symbolic imagery, reflecting the wearer's rank, accomplishments, or connection to specific deities.
