HMCS Star
HMCS Star is a Canadian Forces Naval Reserve division (NRD) located in Hamilton, Ontario. It is one of 24 Naval Reserve divisions located across Canada. HMCS Star recruits and trains part-time sailors for service with the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN).
The primary role of HMCS Star is to augment the regular force of the RCN. Reservists from HMCS Star participate in domestic operations, such as disaster relief and search and rescue, as well as international deployments in support of Canada's foreign policy objectives.
The unit also provides training and support to the local community through various outreach programs.
HMCS Star derives its name from the historical significance of Hamilton as a port city. The "Star" in the name likely refers to navigation and the mariner's reliance on celestial bodies for guidance. The ship's motto is "Ready Aye Ready."
