Bilten
A bilten (sometimes transliterated as bülten) is a bulletin, often used in the context of a regular, short publication providing information on a specific topic or from a specific organization. The term is commonly used in Balkan countries, particularly those formerly part of Yugoslavia, such as Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, as well as Bulgaria.
A bilten is typically characterized by:
- Frequency: Published regularly, such as daily, weekly, monthly, or quarterly.
- Scope: Focused on a particular subject area, industry, or the activities of an institution.
- Content: Includes news, announcements, reports, updates, and other relevant information.
- Distribution: Circulated to a specific audience, such as members, employees, or subscribers.
The term can refer to both printed and electronic publications. In the digital age, a bilten is often distributed via email or made available online. While the English term "bulletin" is a close equivalent, the word bilten often carries a connotation of officiality or formality, particularly in the context of government agencies or large organizations.
