Holy Holy (Australian band)
Holy Holy is an Australian indie rock band formed in Brisbane in 2011. The core members are Timothy Carroll (vocals, guitar) and Oscar Dawson (guitar). While often described as a duo, Holy Holy typically performs and records with a larger band lineup.
The band's formation began with Carroll and Dawson collaborating on songwriting while geographically separated – Carroll in Europe and Dawson in Australia. This long-distance collaboration shaped their initial sound, characterized by layered instrumentation and intricate arrangements.
Holy Holy has released several studio albums, including When the Storms Would Come (2015), Paint (2017), My Own Pool of Light (2019), and Hello My Beautiful World (2021). Their music is known for its dynamic shifts, incorporating elements of alternative rock, folk, and electronic music. Common lyrical themes explored in their songs include introspection, nature, and relationships.
The band has toured extensively throughout Australia and internationally, performing at major music festivals and headlining their own shows. Holy Holy has received critical acclaim for their complex musical arrangements, evocative songwriting, and engaging live performances. They have also been nominated for several awards, including ARIA Awards and Australian Music Prize nominations.
