Balquhain

Balquhain is a place name in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It refers primarily to a historical barony and associated structures, notably Balquhain Castle, although little remains of the original castle structure. The area is situated near Inverurie.

Historically, Balquhain was a significant location associated with the Leslie family. The Leslies of Balquhain were a prominent branch of the Clan Leslie, holding the lands from the 14th century. They played a notable role in local and national affairs.

Balquhain Castle, while now largely ruined, was once a substantial tower house. Over time, sections of the original structure have been dismantled or incorporated into nearby farm buildings. The castle's strategic location reflects its historical importance as a defensive site.
