HMCS Champlain (1919)

HMCS Champlain (1919) was a Battle-class trawler that served in the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN). Built originally for the British Royal Navy as HMS Edmund Shakespeare during World War I, she was one of several trawlers transferred to Canada in 1919 as part of a postwar fleet reorganization.

The ship's primary role in the RCN was that of a patrol vessel, often employed in fisheries protection duties along the Atlantic coast of Canada. She also participated in search and rescue operations and provided support for hydrographic surveys.

HMCS Champlain was decommissioned from the Royal Canadian Navy in the mid-1930s. Following her decommissioning, she was sold into civilian service. Her subsequent history after leaving naval service is not extensively documented.
