National Democratic Party (Djibouti)

The National Democratic Party (Parti National Démocratique, PND) is a minor political party in Djibouti.

The PND was founded and is led by Mohamed Moussa Ali. The party first contested parliamentary elections in 2003 as part of the Union for a Presidential Majority (UMP) coalition, which secured all 65 seats in the National Assembly. Specifically, the PND gained one seat.

In the 2008 parliamentary election, the PND once again participated within the UMP coalition. The UMP again won all seats, securing the PND another single seat in parliament.

The party participated in the 2013 parliamentary election as part of the Union for the Presidential Majority (UMP) coalition, which won a majority of seats, allowing the PND to retain representation in the National Assembly.

The PND is generally considered to be allied with the ruling People's Rally for Progress (RPP). Its political influence and impact are limited given its size and consistent participation within the dominant UMP coalition. Further information on the party's specific platform and activities is scarce.
