Bolkiah

Bolkiah is the name of the 29th and current Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei. He ascended to the throne on 5 October 1967, after his father, Omar Ali Saifuddien III, abdicated.

Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah is one of the world's longest-reigning monarchs and heads of state. He is also one of the world's wealthiest individuals. His reign has been marked by significant economic development in Brunei, primarily driven by oil and natural gas revenues. He has also overseen the implementation of conservative Islamic policies within the country.

The name "Bolkiah" itself has historical significance within the Bruneian Royal Family. Past Sultans of Brunei have also borne the name, notably Sultan Bolkiah, the 5th Sultan of Brunei, who reigned during the 15th and 16th centuries and is often credited with expanding Brunei's influence and territory. Thus, "Bolkiah" represents a dynastic name linked to Bruneian royalty and history.
