Cotleigh

Cotleigh is a small village and civil parish in the East Devon district of Devon, England. It is situated approximately 4 miles (6.4 km) north of Honiton and lies within the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The name "Cotleigh" is believed to derive from the Old English words "cot," meaning cottage or dwelling, and "leah," meaning a woodland clearing or meadow.

The parish church of St Michael is a Grade II* listed building, dating back to the 15th century, although it underwent significant restoration in the 19th century. The church features a Norman font and a three-stage tower.

Historically, Cotleigh was primarily an agricultural community. Modern-day Cotleigh remains a small rural community with a focus on farming and tourism related to the Blackdown Hills.
