Héctor Velázquez (baseball)

Héctor Velázquez is a Mexican professional baseball pitcher. He has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Boston Red Sox and the San Diego Padres, and in the Mexican League (LMB) for the Acereros de Monclova.

Velázquez signed with the Acereros de Monclova in 2009 and played in the Mexican League for several years, establishing himself as a reliable starter. He gained recognition for his control and command of multiple pitches.

In December 2016, Velázquez signed a minor league contract with the Boston Red Sox. He made his MLB debut for the Red Sox in 2017. Primarily used as a swingman, he served as both a starter and a reliever for the team. During his time with Boston, he contributed to their bullpen and starting rotation, demonstrating versatility and reliability.

In 2020, Velázquez was traded to the San Diego Padres. After being designated for assignment by the Padres, he returned to the Mexican League.
