Grover Gilmore (baseball)
Grover Gilmore (1889-1956) was an American professional baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Chicago White Sox in 1914.
Born in Washington Court House, Ohio, Gilmore's professional baseball career was relatively brief. His stint with the White Sox represented his only MLB experience. He appeared in just one game for the White Sox, pitching a single inning on September 22, 1914. During that inning, he allowed one hit and walked one batter, without recording a strikeout. His earned run average (ERA) for that one inning was 0.00.
Following his brief MLB appearance, Gilmore continued to play in the minor leagues for a time, though details of his minor league career are not extensively documented. He died in 1956 at the age of 67. While his MLB career was limited, he represents a footnote in the history of the Chicago White Sox and professional baseball.
