Grant Stewart (musician)

Grant Stewart (born July 4, 1971, Toronto, Ontario, Canada) is a jazz tenor saxophonist.

Stewart is known for his dedication to the hard bop tradition. He is a prolific recording artist, having released numerous albums as a leader and appearing as a sideman on many others. He moved to New York City in 1990 and quickly became a fixture on the jazz scene.

Stewart's playing is characterized by its strong swing feel, bluesy phrasing, and command of the instrument. He draws inspiration from tenor saxophone masters such as Coleman Hawkins, Charlie Parker, and Sonny Rollins.

He has performed and recorded with many notable jazz musicians, including Brad Mehldau, Jimmy Cobb, Peter Bernstein, and Harry Allen. He frequently performs at Smalls Jazz Club in New York City.
