Goli Soda

Goli Soda, also known as Banta Soda or Goti Soda, is a popular carbonated beverage originating from India. The drink is traditionally sold in a Codd-neck bottle, a distinct glass bottle sealed with a marble (the "goli").

To open the bottle, the marble is pushed inwards, using pressure to force the marble past a constriction inside the bottle's neck. This releases the carbonated beverage, and the marble then serves as a stopper while drinking. The process creates a characteristic "pop" sound.

Goli Soda comes in various flavors, ranging from traditional lemon and ginger to more modern fruit-based options. It is widely available in street stalls and small shops throughout India, particularly during the hot summer months.

The drink's unique packaging and the experience of opening the bottle contribute to its nostalgic appeal and enduring popularity. The bottles are often collected and reused, contributing to a somewhat sustainable system. While commercially produced versions exist, the traditionally made Goli Soda from smaller vendors remains a cultural icon.
