Gods of War (Blasphemy album)

Gods of War is the second full-length studio album by the Canadian black metal band Blasphemy. It was released in 1993 by Wild Rags Records. This album solidified Blasphemy's reputation as one of the most extreme and influential war metal bands.

The album is characterized by its raw, chaotic, and intensely aggressive sound. The production is intentionally lo-fi, adding to the atmosphere of primal violence and blasphemy that permeates the music. The lyrical themes center around anti-Christianity, blasphemy, violence, and the glorification of war.

Gods of War features signature Blasphemy elements, including Incinerator of Xul's guttural vocals, Caller of the Storms' frenzied guitar riffs, and 3 Black Hearts' blast beat drumming. The album's tracks are often short, brutal bursts of sonic intensity.

The album's cover art features a chaotic depiction of battle and demonic imagery, fitting the album's overall themes. Gods of War is considered a landmark album in the war metal subgenre and has been influential on numerous subsequent bands.
