Larry Black (sprinter)
Larry Black (1951 – 2006) was an American sprinter, best known for winning a gold medal in the 4x100 meter relay at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich. Black ran the third leg of the relay, contributing to the American team's victory with a time of 38.19 seconds, a world record at the time.
Prior to the Olympics, Black attended North Carolina Central University, where he excelled in track and field. He was a prominent figure in the university's highly successful track program.
After his athletic career, Black remained involved in the track and field community, often mentoring young athletes. He died in 2006 at the age of 54.
