Gilbert Tilles

Gilbert Tilles (1918-1998) was an American businessman and philanthropist. He was the founder of Tilles Investment Company, a real estate development firm based in St. Louis, Missouri. Tilles was known for his contributions to the arts, education, and community development in the St. Louis region.

He and his wife, Eleanor Tilles, were major benefactors of Washington University in St. Louis, establishing the Eleanor and Gilbert Tilles Fund, which supports various programs and initiatives within the university. He also contributed significantly to the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra and other cultural institutions.

Tilles Park in St. Louis County is named in honor of the Tilles family, recognizing their commitment to the community and their contributions to improving the quality of life for residents. His legacy continues through the various philanthropic endeavors supported by the Tilles Foundation.
