George Sheldon (diver)
George Sheldon (May 17, 1874 – November 25, 1907) was an American diver who competed in the 1904 Summer Olympics in St. Louis, Missouri. He won the gold medal in the plunge for distance event. He also competed in the platform diving event, finishing fifth. Sheldon was born in Columbus, Ohio, and died in St. Louis, Missouri. Information about his life beyond his Olympic participation is sparse. The plunge for distance was only contested at the 1904 Olympics and is no longer an Olympic event.
