George Joseph Smith (Canadian politician)
George Joseph Smith (1859 – 1947) was a Canadian politician.
Smith was a lawyer and served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for the Prince Edward Island riding of 4th Kings. He was first elected in the 1904 election and re-elected in 1908. Smith served in the government of Premier Arthur Peters as the Attorney General of Prince Edward Island from 1908 to 1911. He resigned his seat in 1911 to contest the federal election.
In the 1911 federal election, Smith ran as the Liberal candidate in the riding of King's. He was defeated by the Conservative candidate, Augustine MacDonald. Following this defeat, Smith did not return to provincial politics.
