John Ritchie (footballer, born 1941)
John Ritchie (born 15 August 1941) is a Scottish former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper.
Ritchie began his career with Dundee United in 1958, spending several seasons at Tannadice Park. He made over 100 appearances for the club before transferring to Hibernian in 1966.
At Hibernian, Ritchie quickly established himself as the first-choice goalkeeper. He was a key member of the Hibs team that won the Scottish League Cup in 1972, defeating Celtic 2-1 in the final. He also played in Hibernian's European campaigns during this period.
Ritchie left Hibernian in 1974 and joined Dumbarton. He spent one season with the club before retiring from professional football.
After his playing career ended, Ritchie remained involved in football in various capacities. He is remembered as a reliable and accomplished goalkeeper, particularly for his time with Hibernian.
