George Cunningham (Arizona politician)
George Cunningham (born August 18, 1931, died May 28, 2021) was an American politician and attorney who served as a U.S. Representative for Arizona's 4th congressional district from 1977 to 1981.
Prior to his congressional service, Cunningham practiced law in Tucson, Arizona. He was a member of the Republican party.
During his time in Congress, Cunningham focused on issues such as water rights, energy policy, and fiscal responsibility. He served on the House Interior and Insular Affairs Committee and the House Science and Technology Committee.
Cunningham unsuccessfully sought reelection to the House of Representatives in 1980, losing to Democrat James McNulty. After leaving Congress, he returned to practicing law in Arizona.
He received a bachelor's degree from Drake University and a law degree from the University of Arizona.
