Yagra (moth)

Yagra is a genus of moths belonging to the family Erebidae, subfamily Arctiinae (tiger moths). This genus contains a small number of species native to Southeast Asia. Information regarding their specific characteristics, such as wingspan, coloration, larval host plants, and habitat, is generally limited and scattered across taxonomic databases and scientific publications.

While detailed information is scarce, members of the Yagra genus, like other Arctiinae, likely possess brightly colored wings, particularly the adults. This coloration can serve as a warning mechanism (aposematism) to potential predators, indicating that the moth is distasteful or even toxic due to the sequestration of chemicals from their larval food sources.

Further research is needed to fully document the biology, ecology, and conservation status of the different Yagra species. Their classification within Arctiinae is based on morphological characters and increasingly on molecular data.
