Geisberg (Middle Moselle)

Geisberg is a vineyard site (German: Lage) in the Middle Moselle region of Germany, specifically located within the village of Erden. It is a designated VDP (Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter) Grosse Lage, indicating it is classified as one of the very best vineyard sites in Germany. Geisberg is renowned for producing high-quality Riesling wines.

The vineyard is characterized by its steep, south-facing slope, composed primarily of weathered slate soil. This slate helps retain heat and provides excellent drainage. The steep gradient maximizes sunlight exposure, contributing to optimal grape ripening. The wines from Geisberg typically exhibit intense minerality, complex fruit flavors, and a long, lingering finish.
