Furioso (film)

Furioso is an upcoming Australian action adventure film directed by George Miller. It serves as both a prequel and spin-off to Miller's 2015 film Mad Max: Fury Road, focusing on the origins and early life of the character Imperator Furiosa. Anya Taylor-Joy stars as a younger version of Furiosa, a role previously portrayed by Charlize Theron. Chris Hemsworth and Tom Burke are also part of the cast.

The film explores Furiosa's journey from her childhood abduction from the Green Place of Many Mothers, through her experiences with various warring factions in the post-apocalyptic wasteland, including those led by Warlord Dementus (Hemsworth). The plot details how she hones her survival skills and eventually crosses paths with Immortan Joe, setting the stage for the events depicted in Fury Road.

Filming took place primarily in New South Wales, Australia. The production is notable for its large-scale action sequences and practical effects, continuing the visual style established in Fury Road. Furioso is scheduled for theatrical release in May 2024.
