Gary Williams (footballer, born 1954)

Gary Williams (born 26 February 1954) is a Welsh former professional footballer who played as a defender.

Williams began his career with Swansea City, making his debut in 1972. He went on to make over 300 league appearances for the club, becoming a key part of the side that rose from the Fourth Division to the First Division in the late 1970s and early 1980s. He was known for his tough tackling and commitment.

Following his successful spell with Swansea, Williams moved to Derby County in 1984. He later played for Cardiff City before retiring from professional football.

After retiring, Williams remained involved in football, working in coaching roles.
