Fred Crane (baseball)
Frederick Raymond Crane (born July 25, 1937, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, died April 13, 1985, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) was an American professional baseball player. He was a right-handed pitcher who played briefly in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Chicago White Sox in 1961.
Crane signed with the White Sox in 1956. Prior to his MLB debut, he played in the minor leagues, primarily as a starting pitcher.
In his lone MLB season, Crane appeared in three games, all in relief. He pitched a total of 3 2/3 innings, giving up four hits, three earned runs, and striking out one batter. His earned run average (ERA) was 7.36. He did not record a decision (win or loss).
Following his brief stint in the majors, Crane continued to pitch in the White Sox' minor league system for several more seasons before ending his professional baseball career.
