Peter Duncan (British politician)
Peter Duncan (born 29 July 1965) is a Scottish Conservative and Unionist politician and businessman. He served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Galloway and Upper Nithsdale from 2001 to 2005.
Duncan was educated at the University of Edinburgh. Before entering politics, he worked in business.
He contested the Orkney and Shetland constituency in the 1997 general election but was unsuccessful. He was subsequently elected as the MP for Galloway and Upper Nithsdale in 2001, defeating the incumbent Alasdair Morgan of the Scottish National Party.
During his time in Parliament, Duncan served on several select committees, including the Scottish Affairs Committee. He lost his seat in the 2005 general election to Russell Brown of the Labour Party.
Following his defeat, Duncan returned to the business sector. He has held various positions, including serving as a director of several companies. He has also been involved in public affairs and commentary. He is a frequent commentator on Scottish and British politics.
