Vagabond (Norwegian band)
Vagabond was a Norwegian rock band active primarily in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The band is best known for representing Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1985 with the song "Karlovy Vary".
Vagabond was formed by members of the bands Stage Dolls and TNT. The lineup for their Eurovision appearance and initial recordings consisted of:
- Atle Bakken (keyboards)
- Jørn Lande (vocals)
- Dag Stokke (keyboards)
- Hans Olav Gorset (guitar)
- Freddy Lindquist (guitar)
- Morten Skogstad (drums)
Following their Eurovision appearance, Jørn Lande left the band and was replaced by Hans Olav Thyvold. They continued to release music and tour, achieving some success in Norway and internationally.
Their music style can be described as melodic rock and AOR (Album-Oriented Rock), influenced by the sounds of bands like Journey and Foreigner. While "Karlovy Vary" remains their most well-known song, they released several other singles and albums.
The band eventually dissolved in the early 1990s, with members pursuing other musical projects. Jørn Lande, in particular, went on to a successful solo career as a heavy metal vocalist.
