Gareth Davies (rugby union, born 1955)

Gareth Davies (born 1 May 1955) is a former Welsh international rugby union player. He played scrum-half for Cardiff RFC and Wales during the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Davies earned 21 caps for Wales between 1978 and 1985, and was known for his tactical kicking and sharp passing. He also toured with the British and Irish Lions to South Africa in 1980, playing in one Test match.

After retiring from playing, Davies became a rugby commentator and administrator. He served as the Chief Executive of the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) from 2006 to 2014. During his tenure, the WRU oversaw the construction of the Millennium Stadium (now Principality Stadium) and the successful hosting of Rugby World Cup matches. He has also held various positions with the Lions and other rugby organizations.
