HDMS Absalon (F341)
HDMS Absalon (F341) is the lead ship of the Absalon-class frigates of the Royal Danish Navy. Commissioned in 2007, she is a flexible support ship intended for a variety of roles, including command and control, anti-submarine warfare, anti-air warfare, and maritime interdiction operations.
The Absalon class is designed with a "StanFlex" mission bay, allowing the ships to be rapidly reconfigured with different modules depending on the mission requirements. This modularity enables the ship to function as a command platform, hospital ship, or troop transport, among other possibilities.
Absalon has participated in numerous international exercises and operations, contributing to maritime security and stability in various regions. She is armed with a range of weapons systems, including surface-to-air missiles, anti-ship missiles, and guns, allowing her to engage a wide spectrum of threats.
Her namesake, Absalon, was a Danish archbishop and statesman in the 12th century who is considered the founder of Copenhagen.
