Mountain View station (Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad)
Mountain View station was a railway station located in Mountain View, New Jersey, along the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad (DL&W). The station served passengers traveling to and from the surrounding communities in Morris County. Situated on the railroad's Boonton Branch, it provided a vital link to larger urban centers like Hoboken and New York City via connecting services. The station building itself was a typical design for smaller DL&W stops, often a wood-frame structure with a waiting room and ticket office. Passenger service to Mountain View station ceased along with the decline of rail travel in the mid-20th century. While the original station building may or may not remain extant, the right-of-way continues to be used for freight and/or potentially other transportation purposes. The precise dates of construction and closure are generally available in historical records and railway archives.
