French ship Brillant (1774)

The Brillant was a 64-gun ship of the line of the French Royal Navy, designed by Joseph-Marie-Rose Pellerin. She was launched in 1774 from the Brest dockyard.

She participated in the American Revolutionary War, notably being present at the Battle of Ushant in 1778 under the command of Captain de Montieu. Brillant was part of the White Squadron, the vanguard of the French fleet.

In 1779, the Brillant participated in the Battle of Grenada under Admiral d'Estaing. She was part of the French fleet that captured Grenada from the British.
