Frederick Thorpe (cricketer)
Frederick Thorpe was an English cricketer who played first-class cricket for Cambridge University and Surrey in the late 19th century. A right-handed batsman, he was known for his stylish strokeplay and occasional off-spin bowling.
Thorpe first came to prominence at Eton College, where he was a leading batsman. He continued his cricketing career at Cambridge University, earning his Blue in 1884, 1885 and 1886. While at Cambridge, he achieved moderate success with the bat, contributing to the university's cricket team.
After graduating from Cambridge, Thorpe played for Surrey County Cricket Club for a short period. Although his appearances were limited, he demonstrated glimpses of his talent. Details about his personal life and career after cricket are sparse in readily available records.
