Frank Rennie (politician)
Frank Rennie is a Scottish politician representing the Scottish National Party (SNP). He is a Councillor on Comhairle nan Eilean Siar (Western Isles Council), representing the Barraigh, Bhatarsaigh, Eirisgeigh agus Uibhist a Deas ward (Barra, Vatersay, Eriskay and South Uist).
Rennie's background is in academia and rural development. Prior to entering local government, he worked at Lews Castle College UHI, part of the University of the Highlands and Islands. His research and professional interests have focused on crofting, land use, and sustainability in rural communities, particularly in the Scottish Highlands and Islands.
As a councillor, Rennie has been involved in various aspects of local government, including education, environmental issues, and economic development within the Western Isles. He is a strong advocate for the unique needs and challenges facing island communities, often raising issues relating to transport, connectivity, and sustainable development at a local and national level. He has served on numerous council committees and working groups.
