William McCormick (Upper Canada politician)
William McCormick (c. 1780 – 1857) was a businessman and political figure in Upper Canada.
McCormick was born in Ireland and emigrated to Upper Canada. He established himself as a merchant in the Niagara District, becoming a prominent figure in local business and affairs.
He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Upper Canada for Niagara in 1820. He served until 1824. During his time in the assembly, he supported initiatives related to trade and infrastructure development in the Niagara region.
McCormick was also involved in local militia activities, serving as an officer. He played a role in community development and administration.
His later life was spent in relative obscurity, focusing on his business interests. He died in 1857. While not a central figure in Upper Canadian politics, McCormick's contributions reflect the involvement of local businessmen in the early development of the province.
