Luc Sels
Luc Sels is a Belgian academic and labor economist, currently serving as the Rector of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU Leuven) since 2017. His research focuses on labor market dynamics, wage formation, and the economics of education.
Before becoming Rector, Professor Sels served as Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business at KU Leuven from 2009 to 2017. He is also a professor of Human Resource Management.
Sels holds a PhD in Applied Economics from KU Leuven. He has published extensively in leading international journals in his field. As Rector, he has overseen various strategic initiatives at KU Leuven, including promoting interdisciplinary research, internationalization, and fostering innovation. He is a prominent voice in discussions concerning higher education policy in Belgium and Europe.
